They Sing into Reading, for grades 1 and 2, is an engaging new reading program created by Matthew Glavach, Ph.D., founder of StrugglingReaders.com, and featuring Donny and Marie Osmond children’s songs. Each lesson weaves together phonics, sight words, fluency practice, and rhythm‑based timing activities that strengthen the brain pathways essential for smooth, confident reading. As timing improves, reading becomes easier, faster, and more automatic.

COGNITIVE TRAINING MAY CUT DEMENTIA RISK FOR DECADES.
While there is no cure for dementia, growing evidence suggests certain cognitive exercises may help support brain health and reduce long‑term risk.
One of the strongest sources of evidence is the federally funded ACTIVE study which followed nearly 3,000 older adults for 20 years. Researchers evaluated several types of mental training,.
The long‑term results were striking. Participants who completed speed‑of‑processing training were about 25% less likely to be diagnosed with dementia than those in a control group.
Matthew Glavach, Ph.D., draws on findings from the ACTIVE study in his book Brain Fitness: Processing Speed and Reaction Time, which includes structured exercises of engaging games and activities focused on rhythm, processing speed and reaction time. He wrote the book in response to the growing reliance on computerized cognitive‑training programs, which can be costly or difficult for some older adults to use.
